Random Movie Fact Thread!

Sort of a continuation of the "Pointless Fact Time" thread, this is the thread where you can post as many facts as you want about any movie you like.

To start us off, here's some facts about the "Madagascar" movies!

1. Melman was originally an okapi, but he was changed to a giraffe because it was a more popular animal (an okapi would later make an appearance as a major character in the Valentine's Day special, "Madly Madagascar".
2. The Central Park Zoo does NOT have lions, zebras, giraffes, or hippos. It does have penguins.
3. Jeffery Katzenberg, the CEO of DreamWorks, has expressed disappointment with the film's third act.
4. Originally, Maurice the aye-aye was the leader of the lemurs, and Julien was just a side character with only two lines. But he turned out to be such a fun character that he became the leader (poor Maurice).
5. While performing at the zoo, Alex does Zoolander's "Blue Steel" pose. Ben Stiller, who was the voice of Alex, also played Zoolander.
6. As pointed out by the characaters, "Moto Moto" (the name of the male hippo in the second movie) actually DOES mean "Hot Hot" in Swahili.
7. The second movie was originally called "Madagascar: The Crate Escape".
8. In the third movie, Gia the jaguar was originally an albino jaguar held in a cage in the casino where Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria sneak into.
9. Chris Rock, the voice of Marty, ad-libbed the by now famous "Afro Circus" song.
10. Character designer Craig Kellen based Stefano the sea lion's face off of his own.

The Wizard of Oz

1. The famous "Over the Rainbow" song was almost cut from the film because MGM thought the Kansas sequence went on for too long.
2. Ray Bolger was originally cast as the Tin Man, but he wanted to play the Scarecrow instead.
3. Bert Lahr's Cowardly Lion costume weighed 90 pounds (poor guy).
4. Speaking of Bert Lahr, he couldn't eat without ruining his makeup, but he eventually got tired of his liquid diet and decided to just have the makeup artists redo it after he ate.
5. Child actress Shirley Temple was originally considered for the role of Dorothy.
